South Carolina men’s basketball coach Lamont Paris added a huge piece from the transfer portal as North Dakota sharpshooter Treysen Eaglestaff committed to the Gamecocks over programs like Gonzaga, Kentucky and Kansas following an official visit to Columbia.

This past season for the Fighting Hawks, Eaglestaff averaged 18.9 points per game and shot 36 percent from 3-point range. On Dec. 18, he torched Elite 8-bound Alabama for 40 points during a 97-90 loss at home. Here are his highlights from that game.

The 6-foot-6 guard is the second commitment from the transfer portal this weekend for Paris and the Gamecocks. Big man Christ Essandoko of Providence was the first to jump on board on Saturday.

Paris and South Carolina are coming off a disappointing 12-20 season in 2024-25 complete with a 2-16 mark in the SEC one season after finishing 26-8 (13-5) and reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the Gamecocks went to the Final Four in 2017. Paris was the SEC Coach of the Year two seasons ago and is the first coach in the history of South Carolina men’s basketball to lead the Gamecocks to the NCAA Tournament in his second season.
